What if I don’t want to send my child to school? Will they be penalised? Will I receive compensation?

What if I don’t want to send my child to school? Will they be penalised? Will I receive compensation?

  1. No schooling is available for my children’s age group.
One parent can therefore stay at home to look after their children. This parent will continue to receive compensation.
  2. Schooling is available for my child but, for personal reasons, I do not wish them to attend.
This is your right as a parent. Although attendance is strongly recommended, your child will not be penalised by the school. However the parent who stays at home to look after the child will not receive compensation.
  3. Schooling is available for my child but, for health reasons, backed by a medical certificate, my child cannot attend school.
In this case, the child will receive educational support remotely and the parent who stays home to look after the ill child will receive compensation.
