Can children of divorced parents look after their children on an alternating basis?

Yes. There is an exception that allows children to travel between the homes of separated spouses.

In the event of disagreement on how to proceed, either parent has the option of taking their case to court, although a complaint is unlikely to succeed in view of the special circumstances. An amicable agreement is therefore preferable.

Keep in mind, however, that any travel increases the risk of contamination, while the civil code specifically mentions the protection of the child “with regard to his or her safety and health” among the “duties whose purpose is the interests of the child”.
