Is the border between France and Italy open?
Dernière modification le 04/06/2021Yes, the border is open.
First of all, keep in mind that to reach Italy you must pass through France. It is therefore necessary to respect travel measures on French territory such as the curfew (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
Currently, Monegasques and residents of the Principality of Monaco can travel to Italy without a PCR test as long as they stay there for less than 24 hours and their Italian destination is less than 60 km from the place of residence.
If your trip exceeds 24 hours and / or if your Italian destination is more than 60 km from Monaco, a number of measures should be observed. You can consult them by clicking on the following link. Note that once on Italian territory, you will have to comply with local regulations which determine a curfew or specific rules concerning intra-Italian travel. You can find more details on these rules which differ from region to region at this link.
You can also check your personal situation by answering the interactive questionnaire put online by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Italian or English).
In order to protect the population residing in the Principality, the Government requires all residents returning from a stay outside the Principality to make an appointment at the call center (92055500) in order to carry out a PCR test on their return to the Principality. .
