Someone in my immediate circle tests positive

If you have been in contact with a person who has tested positive within 3 days of their symptoms appearing or within 7 days prior to their test result, you are considered a “contact” case.

Depending on the nature of your contacts, you can assess your level of risk and assess the appropriate measures to take.

High-risk contact: without a mask

  • Sharing living space with a COVID+ case
  • Face-to-face discussion at less than 1m, whatever the duration e.g. coffee break, cigarette break, etc
  • Contact at less than 1.5m for more than 15 minutes, e.g. person sitting immediately next to you at the table, contact sports (judo, rugby, etc.)
  • Meeting in an enclosed area for more than 15 mins at less than 1m50 away from each other
  • Stay away from work or school
  • Take temperature twice a day

PCR test between days 5 and 7 of the last contact*

If the PCR is negative:

  • Return to work or school
  • Take temperature twice a day
  • Increased barrier measures up to Day 14

If the PCR is positive:

  • Stay away from work or school until Day 14 from the onset of symptoms or Day 7 from a positive PCR test result if asymptomatic
  • After 48 hours with no fever and no respiratory difficulties, return to school or work and observe increased barrier measures until Day 14 from the positive PCR test result

*If you live in the same house as someone who has confirmed COVID-19: Have a PCR test immediately, followed up by your GP.

Low-risk contact

  • Pupils or teachers in the same class
  • Person immediately next to you in an office at less than 1m50, even if masked
  • Person next to you in a means of transport (train, plane or bus) for more than 30 minutes
  • Situations in which barrier measures are frequently not observed, e.g.: being present with someone at the same time in changing rooms at less than 1.5m, meals taken together while respecting distancing, taking part in sports close to others but with no contact, artistic activities (such as theatre, choir, etc.)
  • Increased barrier measures*
  • It is not necessary to stay away from work or school
  • Take temperature twice a day
