What does the PCR test involve?
Dernière modification le 15/05/2020The PCR test is a non-invasive test which takes just a few seconds. Some people will find it more painful than others, depending on their level of sensitivity. To confirm whether the virus is present or not, a sample of cells is taken from deep in the nose using a swab, a type of long cotton-bud that is inserted up to around 15 cm into the nasal cavities. It takes between three and six hours to analyse a sample, not including the time required to transport it.
